VIDEO: How To Have A Radiant Complexion With Acupuncture And Reiki
I often get the question, “Your skin looks great! What do you do for it?”
Although most people expect me to rattle off a myriad of skin care products (and believe me, the right skin care can really make a difference!), it’s really what you feed your Body, Mind, and Spirit that makes you glow from within.
At the risk of sounding like a bad Olay ad, you’ve got to love the skin that you’re in!
How do you take care of your skin, particularly your complexion? And, why does it even matter?
In a previous post, “How The Complexion Is Related To The Heart In Chinese Medicine“, I talk about the Chinese Medicine components of good skin care. I also mention how the complexion is a reflection of the Heart in Chinese Medicine.
Aside from making sure the physical aspects of your Heart is up to speed, the Heart is also energetically tapped in with how we express and connect with ourselves and others. It is the Yang movement of upwards and outwards, and its element is Fire. It’s the ability to express ourselves in the way we want to express ourselves, and to be heard the way we want to be heard.
The Lungs deal with overall skin health, but the Heart is revealed in the complexion.
In addition, our Spirit (Shen) is housed in the Heart. And, if our complexion is a reflection of our Heart, even our face can reveal a story of how our Spirit is doing.
Here are some things to think about when you’re contemplating about the energetic components of the Heart from a Chinese Medicine perspective:
- Am I truly connected to myself? To my Heart?
- Am I truly connecting with others?
- Am I following what I want to do with my life, at its deepest levels?
- Do I allow myself the time to recalibrate and reconnect at times of stress?
- Am I expressing myself authentically, and in alignment with who I am?
- How does my Spirit feel right now?
So, as you can see, being in your woo can have some major health benefits! Because connecting to who you really are, and with others, as well as expressing yourself authentically, are not only good for your physical Heart, but for your energetic Heart health, too!
In addition, what are you putting into your body?
Are you choosing to eat foods that add to your system and give it high vibrational energy, or reaching for foods that may be convenient but are highly processed and don’t serve your body? I mention some skin-friendly foods in this video. Take a peek!
Similarly, what words are you feeding your soul? Do you feed it self-criticism, drama, or use dense vibrational words to describe yourself and your situation? Or, do you feed it with forgiveness, compassion, and self-love for the fact that we are high-vibrational beings having a very human experience?
This is why meditation is a non-negotiable for me. Personally, it is the difference between being in my zone of genius vs. being a hot mess.
Some people say, “I have no time to meditate!” I used to think that, too. Until I started setting aside time every morning before getting out of bed. In other words, you need to schedule time to meditate, just like you schedule time to workout, or run an errand. You make it part of your schedule. Then, it just becomes a part of how you move through your day.
And, of course, Acupuncture and Reiki are helpful tools to help you get your glow on! How does it do that, exactly? Check out my video, and find out! You’ll also find out why, in my not too distant past, I was able to frequent punk rock shows in heavy makeup, yet still take care of my skin. Enjoy!
Radiantly yours,
