Checking Out Bust’s Craftacular
I just came back from attending Bust Magazine’s Craftacular, which had taken place at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea earlier today. Back in my other life, I was editor of Bamboo Girl Zine (a zine is an independently published magazine, this one I’d done for 10 years, exploring the intersections of sex, race, and gender, before I went to grad school to learn how to needle people.) Bust was fairly new as well, and I was lucky to have my zine reviewed by them (glowingly, may I add!) I still have the clipping in my BG pressbook.
So, I decided to check out the nearly 300 vendors, and was inspired by many of the crafters’ creations (I also enjoy crafting once and a while.) I got a few handmade soaps, a stylized Coney Island tee shirt, and some charming lavender pillows in varying sizes and fabric designs. I struck a conversation with Parisa on her on her interesting pillows, and found out she enjoys reiki (which I give treatments for.) Pillows and reiki, what a great combination!
