Featured On Rappler!: “Margarita Alcantara: From Bamboo Girl to healer”

Last month, I was featured on Rappler, a social news network based in the Philippines, where stories inspire community engagement and digitally fuelled actions for social change.  The article Rina Angela Corpus wrote about me was entitled, “Margarita Alcantara: From Bamboo Girl to healer”.  I think she did a great job!  You may remember Rina’s name and work when she did a guest blog post for me, called, “Guest Blogger Rina Corpus:  Poetry Honoring Philippine Indigenous Healing”.

I especially like the Rappler article, because it gives a good picture of my transition from my days as Editrix/Writer/Publisher of my self-published magazine, Bamboo Girl Zine, martial artist, performance artist, to my work now in the community.  Close friends of mine tell me this growth was of me from warrior to warrior healer.  I believe it! Why didn’t I share this news with you last month?  I wish I could say it’s because I was on the island of Boracay enjoying the clear water and white sand beaches, sipping some coconut or guyabano infused drink, and snorkling with the sea turtles.  But, alas, the real reason is that I had simply forgotten to share the news! So, please check out the article to learn more about me, and feel free to let me know what you think!
